Acne Medication
Side effects are rare with topical sodium sulfacetamide acne medications, but may include:
Skin irritation is the most common. It usually presents as redness, warmth, swelling, itching, stinging or burning
Soreness of the joints
Fever
Sores in the mouth
Stinging or burning of the skin may occur
If any of the following unlikely conditions occur report them to your doctor immediately:
Severe redness or scaling of the skin
Muscle or joint aches
Symptoms of allergic reaction include:
Rash
Itching
Swelling
Dizziness
Unusual tiredness
Yellowing of the skin or eyes
Stomach pain
Nausea
Persistent fever
Trouble breathing
Precautions:
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of asthma or allergies (especially to sulfa drugs or sulfites).
Using this medication for prolonged periods may result in a secondary infection.
This medication should be used with caution during pregnancy. It is not known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk.
Use only on the skin. Don’t get the medication in your eyes, on eyelids or lips, or mucous membranes.
Avoid using on irritated skin.
